FRIDAY FAVORITES – NOVEMBER 21, 2014

THIS WEEK…
This beautiful video on the wines of Champagne. I can not be held responsible if you want to quit your job and move to this picturesque, historic region after watching!

While it seems most recipes this week have been dominated by turkey and stuffings, Bon Appetit posted this gorgeous looking Roast Duck with Potatoes, Figs, and Rosemary.

Since it is officially that time of year again, why not think about giving friends and family a homemade gift like a recipe-in-a-jar? Here is some inspiration to get you started.

Because it has been a particularly tough, early start to Winter this week/month, check out this list from the Globe and Mail for 20 ways to love the Canadian Winter.. (Too soon??)

Yesterday was the annual release of Beaujolais Nouveau wines. Happy hunting to all of you searching for this much loved (at least by this girl) holiday tradition. Here is a quick review of this years’ wines from Wine Spectator.

WHAT I’VE BEEN DRINKING THIS WEEK…
Moment of truth – I sometimes pick a wine because it has a pretty label. (Don’t judge we all do it!) Which is what I did with this lovely label for the 2010 Chateau de Camarsac Bordeaux Superieur. Buying for a label sometimes works, and sometimes is a disaster. Luckily this time it was brilliant! Amazing value at $20 (CDN) proving that you do not have to spend a ton to enjoy Bordeaux wine. A very enjoyable medium body wine with flavors of red berry and earthy spice.

WHAT COCO & TOM HAVE LOVED THIS WEEK…
They have gone back to an oldie but goodie, their Kyjen Hide a Squirrel. Coco pulled in out and they have been fighting over the squirrels all week! Tom was winning as you can see. This interactive, durable toy has been a favorite since they were puppies and they continue to love it.

WHAT HAVE YOU LOVED THIS WEEK? ANY GREAT RECIPE OR WINE FINDS?
I’D LOVE TO HEAR…
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND 🙂
