Well it’s fair to say wedding season is in full swing for us… 3 weeks, 3 weddings. It is going to be a busy few weeks with traveling for one wedding and the lovely husband standing in two. Three years removed from our big day it is easy to forget how all consuming (rightly or wrongly) weddings can be. All the little details that go into making a day the day. But as we’ve been busy prepping, shopping, cooking, and packing to celebrate with the big day of our friends it’s a nice reminder that little details that meant the most to us were the friends and family who travelled to celebrate with us, who cooked for us, and who planned surprises. It is a true friend who will bake whoopie pies with you on the eve of your wedding (not my smartest ides!). Or arranges for a bottle of bubbly for your honeymoon hotel. So while it has been a busy week, I’m happy to be returning the favor of helping out with the little details for our friends getting married.
Needless to say I have wedding on the brain, which is reflected in my favorites this past week with lots of great entertaining tips, recipes for crowds and summer wines. Hope you enjoy!
If you are looking for a treat this weekend then you must, no you need to make these fried artichokes pieces with smoked sausage mayo. They make the most delicious snack and are perfectly matched with a glass of bubbly! While best served right away, these tasty little bites can also be ahead if you are entertaining and heated in the oven before serving.
Favorite Entertaining 101
Summer is all about unexpected guests and spur of the moment parties, which if you are not prepared can be pretty stressful and leave you fleeing for the nearest patio. Before you abandon your backyard or balcony check out this video and how to guide from Style Me Pretty on how to stock your pantry for entertaining. This video and shopping list completely takes the guess work out of being a good (and stylish) host. And if you have a few lingering party etiquette questions click here.
Favorite Reality Check
Loving this witty take on the realities of wedding planning. I was blessed – I’m a definitive decision-maker, my parents didn’t put a lot of pressure on to me, lovely husband literally showed up 3 days before and only recently asked me about how and where we got a marriage licence (true story, don’t ask). But I know this isn’t the same for everyone, my best advice I’ve been sharing lately do what you both want and don’t worry about the naysayers.
Favorite Gift Guide
Like most of you, for us wedding season also means lots of travel and relying on the hospitality of friends and family. Thinking of hostess gifts usually, regrettably falls to the bottom of my list and I default to a candle. In my defence I love candles and always happy to receive one from a visitor. Looking for inspiration this week I stumbled upon this summer hostess gift guide with affordable and unique ideas. And if you have any ideas of unique, easy to travel with hostess gifts please send them my way!
This summer I am having a serious love affair with rosé. My preconceptions about rosé have been challenged and proven wrong, really wrong. And I couldn’t be happier! Rosé is my new favorite sip, but if you are like me and new appreciating these gorgeous blush wines here is a great introduction to the joys of rosé from one of my favorite wine bloggers.
