This Kiwi Gin Fizz has to be one of the most refreshing cocktails ever made! Gin, St. Germain, soda water, mint and gold kiwis make up this delightful summer cocktail.
Thanks for stopping by on a Friday! I’m sure many of you can relate to this, but things have been a little hectic around here. It is fair to say lately I have noticed that my plate is full. Or perhaps for this post I should say my glass is full…
And not a good full with yummy food spilling over, the metaphorical full with too many projects, tasks, and jobs spilling over in my much coveted ‘me‘ time.
I am not complaining, nor am I writing this to contribute to the epidemic of busyness. Trust me I am not bragging about being “busy”. If I could be on a beach sipping a mia tai, chatting with my girlfriends, trust me I would be. I am writing this, because this is where I find myself at the moment. At the moment this is my story. A story that is little over whelming and frazzled, a little boring with the apology reel to my friends on repeat for not being present in their lives, but also a story that is sort of exciting. Because the best part of having a plate that is spilling over is all the projects, tasks, and jobs that are filling the plate. When I look at my to-do list, which is now color coded to keep me organized, I am trying to make a conscious effort not to feel overwhelmed, but to feel proud. Proud, because I must be doing something right to have these tasks and projects, and that is actually kind of awesome! When I look at my Lovely Husband, who is probably about to ask me what is for dinner and if he wanted a snack what is there (this is code for what can you make me), I am trying to focus on my happiness that he is home and we are getting some much needed time together. Not focusing on the additional pressures of cooking and cleaning for two. It is great having him around, although I have learned he goes through a lot of paper towel, which is sort of weird. I guess the positive spin on that is we are still learning new things about each other after four years…When I talk to my friends and start each conversation with an apology, I am so grateful that they understand me, and understand the uncertain chaos of graduate school, volunteer work, and writing. They are amazing bunch who support me, cheer me on and know that my silence is no reflection on our friendships or my value of them in my life.
I’m not sure if life ever slows down, or if I want it to… In the meantime I’m going to enjoy a cocktail, because hey it’s Friday and we all survived another week!
This gin fizz is fragrant, refreshing for summer, and seriously easy, because at this moment no one needs complicated steps standing between them and a cocktail. Enjoy!
